Pilgrims have been visiting Canterbury Cathedral for centuries and this interactive resource will allow you to walk in the footsteps of pilgrims from the past.
Throughout the experience you will be able to select your own path, explore significant artefacts from the time and experience the sights and sounds of medieval Canterbury. The choices you make will lead you to become a pilgrim from either the earliest years of pilgrimage to Canterbury in the decades immediately following the martyrdom of Thomas Becket, or one of Chaucer’s pilgrims who visited centuries later.
You can of course, revisit this resource as many times as you like, finding out how the experience changed over time and also depending on who you were.
If you are a teacher and planning to use this resource with your students, please refer to the teacher notes page where you can find useful guidance and additional information to support learning.
Pilgrimage remains an important part of the life of the Cathedral to this day.
